As children began to grow they may experience a number of difficulties that interfere with their day to day activities. Outpatient services allows an individual to get to a state of well being through the verbalization of the emotional issues that may have interupped their growth and the development of the coping skill needed to achieve the optimal balance between life activities and their developmental stage.
Play therapy techniques are generally used with children aged 3-11 and provides a way for them to express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process. As children's experiences and knowledge are often communicate through play, it becomes an important vehicle for them to know and accept themselves and others.
is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy that addresses the specific emotional and mental health needs of children, adolescents, adult survivors, and families who are struggling to overcome the destructive effects of early trauma. Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) is especially sensitive to the unique problems of youth with post-traumatic stress and mood disorders resulting from abuse, violence, or grief. Because the client is usually a child, TF-CBT often brings non-offending parents or other caregivers into treatment and incorporates principles of family therapy.

Each therapist licensed by their prospective boards and comes to our practice with years of experience in their area of specialty. Our associate professionals always consult with the licensed prior to working with each client in order to provide informed, consistent care at all times.
Mrs. Peoples currently has a Master Degree in Social Work; her undergraduate degree was a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, Clinical Substance Abuse Supervisor Associate, and Roster with South and North Carolina, Trauma Focused CBT as well as a past Guardian Ad Litem volunteer for two and a half years. Mrs. Peoples is no stranger to youth at risk. For more than fifteen years, she has served as a counselor for youth with substance pabuse and alcohol concerns; a counselor for youth in foster care and youth who have been incarcerated and/or about to be incarcerated; a foster care worker; director of after school programs; and has worked with Military Family Life as a Child and Youth Behaviorist.
